Paying for a SQL Server licence or managed database you don't need? For the right site, we move Umbraco from SQL Server to SQLite so it runs from a single file, lowering hosting costs.
Many small and medium Umbraco sites run on a SQL Server or Azure SQL database that costs more than the hosting itself. Since Umbraco 10, SQLite is a fully supported database, so a single-server site with a handful of editors can run happily from one file.
We start with an honest assessment. If your site is load balanced, has many concurrent editors or very heavy traffic, we'll tell you SQLite isn't the right fit. If it is, we migrate your data, configure SQLite properly and set up automated backups.
